Roth Marz Partnership completed the design of the Mars Area Centennial School at the end of 2005. Construction of the new facility began in 2006 and was completed in about 14 months. This 69,600 square feet building contained 24 classrooms averaging 845 square feet for teaching all of the fifth and sixth grade students in the District. The building design also included a library, computer labs, art room, music room, multi-purpose room, cafeteria and kitchen, administration, guidance and health suites.
In 2011, Mars Area School District administrators decided an addition to this building would be necessary to keep up with the growing population trends in the District. Completed in May 2012, a two-story, 12 classroom addition with a full basement storage area was added to their existing facility. Expansions were made to the existing cafeteria and a new kitchen was built utilizing all of their existing equipment.
