Berwick Hospital retained Roth Marz Partnership, P.C. to expand
their existing 120 bed nursing facility through the addition of
120 beds in a semi-private room layout.
The shape and exterior design was driven by the existing
building layout and exterior materials.
The connect to the existing building allowed for the
creation of an outdoor courtyard, landscaped and seating
provided for residents use.
There was a raised planter area developed to allow
wheelchair residents to engage in planting flowers, shrubs, etc.
The new addition is served by the existing kitchen facility, and
contains a dining room and amenities such as, activity room,
multi-purpose room, clean and soiled utility rooms, central
bathing areas and administrative areas.
The design provides for residents rooms in nursing wings
arranged around a central core of community and support areas.
